Bed mobility, moving safely in bed

Bed mobility

Bed mobility is the ability to move in bed, such as rolling over, shifting up, and sitting on the edge. For someone who spends a lot of time in bed, it is a vital skill.

This matters because being able to turn keeps the skin healthy and prevents pressure sores. Sitting up safely is also the first step toward standing and walking again.

Our physiotherapist teaches the person easy ways to move in bed, and shows the caregiver how to help without straining their own back. Small techniques make turning and rising far safer, and they lower the daily load on the family.
