Positioning, placing the body with care
Positioning
Positioning is placing the body and limbs with care while a person lies or sits. It uses pillows and supports to keep joints in good, comfortable positions.
This matters most for people who cannot move much on their own. Good positioning helps prevent pressure sores, reduces swelling, and keeps stiff joints from becoming fixed.
Our physiotherapist sets up safe positions for lying and sitting, and teaches the caregiver how to change them regularly. We explain what a comfortable, protective position looks like for the arm, leg and back, so the family can keep it right all day.
