What soft tissue means

Soft tissue

Soft tissue is a general term for the muscles, tendons and ligaments that move and support the body. It is the tissue around the bones and joints, not the bones themselves.

A soft tissue injury is damage to these structures, such as a strain, sprain or overuse problem. It often causes pain, swelling and stiffness.

This matters because most everyday aches and sports injuries involve soft tissue rather than bone.

Most soft tissue injuries heal well with the right care and time. Physiotherapy does not speed healing beyond nature, but it guides recovery so it happens properly.

At home our physiotherapist assesses the injury, uses hands-on care and graded exercise, and advises on activity. We help ease pain, restore movement and rebuild strength, so the area returns to normal use safely.
