Core stability, a strong trunk
Core stability
Core stability is the strength and control of the deep muscles around the trunk. These muscles wrap the belly, back and pelvis, and they hold the spine steady while the arms and legs move.
This matters because a stable trunk protects the back during everyday tasks like lifting, bending and standing up. Weak trunk muscles can leave a person less steady and more prone to back pain.
Our physiotherapist checks how well the trunk muscles are working, then teaches gentle exercises to switch them on and build them up. We keep the moves simple and safe, and fit them into daily routines at home so the back gets steady support all day.
