Taping, supportive tape for a joint

Taping

Taping is the use of firm or stretchy tape on the skin to support a joint or muscle. Depending on how it is applied, it can limit an unsafe movement, offload a sore area, or gently cue the muscle underneath.

This matters as a short term aid while a part heals or relearns control. It does not fix the problem on its own, but it can make movement more comfortable so exercise goes better.

Our physiotherapist decides if tape suits the injury, applies it correctly, and checks the skin does not react. We use it alongside exercise and remove it as strength and control return, so the person does not come to rely on it.
