Range of motion, how far a joint moves

Range of motion

Range of motion is how far a joint can bend, straighten or turn. A knee that fully bends and straightens has a good range. A stiff one has a limited range.

This matters because a shrinking range makes daily tasks harder and can lead to a stiff, fixed joint. Keeping the range open helps a person stay comfortable and able.

Our physiotherapist gently moves each joint to its safe limit and checks for tightness. We give the caregiver simple movements to do daily so joints do not seize up between visits. Progress is checked at each session so the plan keeps pace.
