Partial weight bearing, only some weight
Partial weight bearing
Partial weight bearing is a doctor’s instruction to put only part of the body weight through a healing leg. The leg may touch the floor and take a light load, but not the full weight yet.
This matters during the middle stage of healing after a fracture or surgery. Some load helps bone and muscle recover, but too much too soon can set progress back.
Our physiotherapist teaches the person how much load feels right and how to control it with crutches or a frame. We practise a safe walking pattern at home and increase the weight step by step as the doctor allows, so healing and strength move forward together.
