Pacing, spreading activity through the day

Pacing

Pacing is the habit of spreading activity evenly through the day, rather than doing too much on a good day and paying for it after. It means breaking tasks into smaller pieces and resting between them, before tiredness or pain flares.

This matters for people with long term fatigue or persistent pain, where overdoing it often brings a crash that wipes out the next day or two.

Our physiotherapist helps the person find a steady daily level they can manage most days. We plan rest breaks into the routine and raise activity slowly from a safe base. Over time, this steadier pattern often lets a person do more, with fewer setbacks.
