Chronic pain, pain that lasts a long time

Chronic pain

Chronic pain is pain that lasts a long time, often continuing after an injury has healed. The nervous system can stay sensitive, so pain carries on even when there is no new damage.

This matters because long lasting pain can shrink activity, disturb sleep and lower mood, which in turn can make the pain feel worse.

Our physiotherapist takes a steady, paced approach rather than looking for a quick fix. We use gentle exercise, gradual return to activity, and practical ways to manage flare ups. We help the person rebuild what they can do at a safe pace, and work together with the doctor when medicine is part of the plan.
