Heat therapy, warmth to ease muscles

Heat therapy

Heat therapy is the use of warmth, such as a warm pack, to relax muscles and ease stiffness. The warmth increases blood flow to the area and helps tight tissue loosen.

This matters because gentle heat can make painful, stiff muscles more comfortable before exercise or stretching. It suits long standing stiffness rather than a fresh, swollen injury.

Our physiotherapist decides whether heat is right for the problem, since it is not suitable for every case. We show the caregiver how to apply it safely, how warm is warm enough, and how long to use it, so the skin stays protected while the muscles ease.
