What BPPV vertigo is
Vertigo (BPPV)
BPPV is a common cause of vertigo, a spinning feeling that comes from the inner ear. Tiny crystals in the ear move out of place and send confusing signals about position.
The spinning is usually brief and triggered by head movements, such as rolling over in bed or looking up.
This matters because sudden dizziness can cause nausea, unsteadiness and a real risk of falling.
BPPV often responds well to specific head and body movements done by a trained physiotherapist. These help guide the crystals back to where they belong.
At home our physiotherapist assesses the vertigo, uses these positioning techniques where suitable, and gives balance exercises. When symptoms point to another cause, we advise a doctor’s review rather than treating it as simple BPPV.
