Quad stick, a stick with four feet
Quad stick
A quad stick is a walking stick with four small feet at the bottom instead of one. The wider base makes it stand on its own and gives more support than a plain stick.
This suits people who need more steadiness than a single stick offers, but who do not need a full frame. It is often useful after a stroke, when one side is weaker.
Our physiotherapist checks that a quad stick is the right choice, sets its height, and teaches which hand to hold it in. We practise walking with it safely around the home, and review the choice as the person recovers.
