Numbness, loss of feeling in a part

Numbness

Numbness is a loss or dulling of feeling in a part of the body. A hand or foot may feel dead, wooden or far away, and it may come with tingling or pins and needles.

This matters because a numb area cannot warn of heat, pressure or a small wound, which can lead to unnoticed injury. It can also make gripping and walking less safe.

Numbness has many causes, so a doctor’s assessment guides the plan. Physiotherapy does not directly restore sensation, but our physiotherapist helps in other ways: retraining safe movement, protecting a numb foot or hand, building strength, and teaching daily skin checks so problems are caught early.
